How Quickly Things Change
A week ago the vineyard was vibrant with shades ranging from green to orange to red against a backdrop of a blue Indian Summer sky. Temperatures were in the 70s (record highs) and there had been over a week of dry, beautiful weather. Suddenly it was winter. The first Artic cold blast settled over Oregon and brought record low temperatures. Add some moisture from the Pacific ocean and we saw our first snow. The snow was a meager effort, but the cold was serious. Anything that was still growing fled into dormancy, whimpering with its tail between its legs. Time to bring out the rain gear and the winter boots and start making plans for next year.
